Wonderful Washington Waterfalls (& Giveaway!)

Much to many visitors’ suprise, it can get very hot in Seattle in the summertime. Growing up near lakes, I need to be in, on, or around water when I get too warm. If you visit Seattle and need a break from the regular tourist spots, head over to the Olympic Peninsula and go on a waterfall adventure! I found a great loop on OnlyInYourState.com that takes you to these 7 waterfalls:

Strawberry Bay Falls, Third Beach

  • Found at the south end of Third Beach, this 100+ waterfall cascades down into the Pacific Ocean

Marymere Falls

  • Right off of Highway 101, just south of Lake Crescent, this 90-foot waterfall is a lovely treat after a 1.8-mile hike

Madison Creek Falls

  • Just west of Port Angeles, follow the short and paved trail to see this 50-foot tall, very wide waterfall near the Elwha River

Rocky Brook Falls

  • At nearly 230-feet high, this magnificent waterfall is one of the easiest of this list to access

Murhut Falls

  • A 130-foot, two-tiered waterfall that drops down into a mossy meadow and small pool to cool off in

Spoon Creek Falls

  • Half a mile down a relatively easy trail you will find this hidden 70-foot, two-tiered waterfall that drops into a lagoon for a quick swim

Merriman Falls

  • Along South Shore Road, this beautiful 40-foot waterfall is the easiest to get to and is a lovely way to end your tour

If you’re coming to the heart of Seattle this summer, but waterfalls aren’t your style, you can use GPS My City to take yourself on a walking tour of the popular sites, and they have so many other cities to see too! The app allows you to download a map tour of the city while you have wifi or cell service, then you can use it to take yourself on a tour, even when you no longer have wifi! Because of that, I am giving away promo codes for a free download to the first 20 readers that comment on this post and tell me about what city you would like to tour using GPS My City. For more on the app, visit their website here. The app is available for iOS and Android devices and you have until April 29 to comment.
